Science Day with Putnam City Kids

The Putman City School District annual raises money for cancer research at OMRF.  Over $1,000,000 to date!!!

Each year we host outstanding middle schoolers from Putnam City.  Always a blast!

Getting ready to purify some plasmids which means … lots of vortexing – always a hit!

Welcome Rebecca!

Rebecca LaVictoire has just joined the lab as a research tech.  Rebecca spent the past several months in the jungle studying the behavior of rhesus macaques.  Here she’s thinking “hmmm, maybe I’ve made a big mistake”.   Lets hope not.  Welcome Rebecca!

Welcome Alisha!!

We are excited to have Alisha Asif join the lab.  Alisha is a junior at Oklahoma High School for Science and Mathematics.  She’ll be exploring mechanisms of chromosome cohesion in mitosis and meiosis.  Here she is learning the joys of tetrad dissection with Regis.

Congratulations Régis!

Régis has just been awarded a grant from the National Cancer Institute for his research on aneuploidy.  Congrats!!

Congrats Emily on your accepted paper!

Emily Kurdzo published the first portion of her thesis research in GENETICS.

Early version is on-line now.  The Journal version coming soon…..

Congratulations to Emily Kurdzo who passed her thesis defense today!  Emily is moving on to a post-doc at Harvard where she’ll be working on “an organism with vertebrae”.  (Emily – you’ll miss those spineless yeast, and we’ll miss you).

Good luck!!
